This symposium which explores the interplay of gender, authority and emotion in the medieval and early modern world has been organised by Claire Walker, Paula Plastić, and Grace Waye-Harris of the School of Humanities, and will take place on 15 November 2024. Speakers include leading Australian and international scholars, postgraduate researchers, and the keynote "Harnessing the Power of Youthful Beauty: Women and Cosmetic Culture in Early Modern Europe" will be presented by art historian Erin Griffey from the University of Auckland. Staff and HDR students are encouraged to participate in person or online. We look forward to welcoming you to a day of thought-provoking discussions and academic exchange.
