The Institute for Sustainability, Energy and Resources (ISER) invites you to join us at the Sustainability Spotlight Seminar series hosted at the ³ÉÈË´óƬ.
As part of these events, recipients of the Foci and Magnets for Excellence (FAME) Sustainability grants will showcase their projects and its progress to date.
Topics presented will vary from promoting green technology in the Australian Wine Industry to Green Investment Index and many other interesting projects in between.
At this seminar, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and network after the following presentation of Associate Professors Cassandra Collins & Armando Corsi.
Presenters' bios:
Cassandra Collins is an Associate Professor in Viticulture. After completing a Bachelor of Agricultural Science and a PhD in Horticulture, she gained experience in the wine industry as a cellar hand, an assistant winemaker and a viticulturist. However, a love of plants and a passion for research and teaching led to a role as a research fellow with the South Australian Research and Development Institute and the ³ÉÈË´óƬ, and then to her current role as a lecturer. Cassandra's current research specialization is grapevine reproduction, organic and biodynamic vineyard management, and new technologies for assessing vine performance.
Associate Professor Armando Corsi describes wine as, ‘not just a beverage but a time capsule, a custodian of tradition, and something which helps keeps communities alive’. This philosophy is embedded in his vast body of research into and analysis of consumers and trade behaviour in the wine industry.
Armando is primarily interested in the marketing and packaging elements that influence the purchasing decisions of a whole range of consumers, including customers, distributors, importers and hospitality venues. The mission for Assoc Prof Corsi and his team is to support the growth of the Australian and international wine industry from this perspective, so most of the projects he undertakes have a strong industry impact as well as academic output.
