This HELLO webinar will examine the intersections of housing and health inequities. We will be joined by Professor Emma Baker and Dr Amy Clair from the Australian Centre for Housing Research, ³ÉÈË´óƬ, and Bernie Barret from Better Renting, a community and advocacy organisation for renters. Speakers will explore evidence on how housing impacts health, and the policy and advocacy landscape responding to the inequalities in housing affordability and housing conditions in Australia.
Emma Baker is Director of the Australian Centre for Housing Research and Deputy Director of the NHMRC Centre for Research Excellence in Healthy Housing. Emma’s work examines the health and human impacts of housing and location in urban and regional environments.
Amy Clair is Deputy Director of Australian Centre for Housing Research, ³ÉÈË´óƬ and Research Associate, ESRC Research Centre on Micro-Social Change, University of Essex. Her work focuses on the many ways that housing influences health and mental health across Australia, Europe and the UK.
Bernie Barret is Better Renting's Deputy Director. She has a background in consumer and lived experience advocacy and leadership. She most recently worked with peak bodies across health, mental health lived experience, and LGBTQIA+ advocacy in South Australia.
The Health Equity Learning Lab Oz (HELLO) is organised by Stretton Health Equity, ³ÉÈË´óƬ, as part of the National Health and Medical Research Council funded ‘Restoring the Fair Go’ research initiative to bring together civil society, public servants, policy makers, and academics who seek to achieve policy change for a healthier and more equitable society.
