This delightful combination of instruments remains uncommon, but a friend of Brahms wrote that it is 鈥渁s though the instruments were in love with each other.鈥 Strongly influenced by Neoclassicism, Muczynski added his contribution to the repertoire in the late 60s. Copland personally transposed his violin sonata for the clarinet, whilst Beethoven鈥檚 twelve variations on a theme from The Magic Flute portray characters from Mozart鈥檚 famous opera.
