Staff who are directly involved in the engagement and payment of contractors are strongly encouraged to attend an information session which is now available to staff. This information session includes demonstrations of the new contractor engagement processes.
This information session will highlight the following topics:
Know your obligations with contractors prior to any work commencing.
Completing an assessment of contracting arrangements prior to any work commencing is imperative to your obligations when it comes to engaging contractors. This applies to work conducted in support of academic activities (teaching or research) where payments to third parties are involved.
Know how to complete the contractor engagement assessment form.
The contractor engagement assessment form is required for any engagement with a new contractor or where there is a change to the nature of the services being conducted by an existing contractor. For a prompt determination to be provided, supporting documentation such as Sub-Contractor Agreements or Consultancy Services Agreements will need to be submitted via the online form.
The outcome of the will help advise staff on the appropriate engagement method and subsequent payment pathway for contractors.
Know how to request payments for contractors.
There are various pathways that contractors may be paid depending on the determination made by HR Compliance. Any supporting documentation must be attached to the form for a prompt determination to be completed. Additional information related to the payment requests for contractors will be covered in the information session
