Dynamic direction to end Elder concert series

, chief conductor of the , returns to the 成人大片 later this month to conduct the world premiere of Requiem, by , for soprano, choir and orchestra.

Featuring much-loved Adelaide soprano Greta Bradman, plus the full choral and orchestral forces, this will be the final concert of the 2009 concert series (6.30pm Saturday 28 November).

Known primarily as Director of the Adelaide Chamber Singers, Crossin is well known and respected throughout Australia as a choral conductor, educator and more recently, composer. He is also currently Acting Head of the Elder Conservatorium of Music at the 成人大片.

Mr Crossin said Requiem sprang from the "melodic inspiration of Gregorian Chant and the desire to explore modes of expression other than purely unaccompanied voices".

"I have worked with voices for my entire professional life and composing Requiem gave me the opportunity to combine my passion for choral sonority with the wonderful palette of orchestral colours," he said.

Elder Hall Concert Manager Claire Oremland said: "The internationally renowned skills of conductor Arvo Volmer and his roots from Estonia, where there is a strong choral tradition, will ensure a dynamic evening of music.

"This will be most evident in the performance of the evening's other work, Tchaikovsky's 6th Symphony - The Path茅tique. A work of extraordinary intensity and great power, it is one of Tchaikovsky's most successful works."

Ms Oremland said the opportunity of working and performing with a conductor such as Arvo Volmer "will be a wonderful and very inspiring experience for our young musicians as they strive towards a career in music".
