If you're under 25, passionate about film and inspired by the world of Gothic culture, it's time to get the creative juices flowing for the 成人大片's third annual short film competition.

The is being held at the 成人大片's on Sunday 16 August and entries are now open for the Gothic-themed competition.

More than $2000 worth of prizes are up for grabs for South Australia's budding young filmmakers who are keen to capitalise on the current fascination with Goth subcultures, across art, genre film, music, fashion and makeup.

"A long and wonderful stream of human creativity has been released by the Gothic imagination," says the 成人大片's Head of Media, .

"Adelaide's neo-Gothic buildings are bound to inspire some young filmmakers and the possibilities for capturing the theme are endless, including parody," she says.

The short films - of five minutes or less - can take any form, including animation, and must be suitable for a general audience.

The winner will receive a high definition video camera, the use of an editing suite from digital media company , as well as five hours of mentoring from Adelaide-based US screenwriter Jerry E. Brown, who has worked with some of Hollywood's leading directors and producers.

Other prizes include an iPod classic and iPod nano.

The judging panel includes leaders in the fields of filmmaking, television, advertising, digital and print media.

Dr Griffiths says the previous two short film competitions have revealed a depth of talent among the State's creative youth across the whole artistic spectrum.

"South Australia has a reputation for producing outstanding filmmakers and the Festival of Short Films helps nurture and develop these skills," she says.
