成人大片 launches Business School

The 成人大片 will launch its new on Thursday 24 July, with a celebration at the including the announcement of two new Professors and a forum debate 'What makes a good Chief Executive Officer?'

The 成人大片 Business School has been formed from the merger of the School of Commerce and the Adelaide Graduate School of Business, with staff and students now located in the newly refurbished 10 Pulteney Street Tower.

Head of School, , said the new School structure would benefit students, enable expanded research, and help the School interact more effectively with the business community.

"With the combination of different business disciplines into the one School, students will benefit from increased flexibility in course choice and being able to study different areas of business within the one business program, giving them a great start in their business careers," said Associate Professor Burgan.

"The new Business School will enable us to build on our existing reputation in business education and research, with our multidisciplinary approach to business benefiting both research outcomes and teaching."

Two new Professors have been appointed to the Business School: Professor Dogan Tirtiroglu, from in Canada, has taken up the new position of Professor of Banking this week and Professor Allan Hodgson, from the , will become Chair of Financial Accounting in July 2009.

At the launch on Thursday 24 July, three CEOs will discuss 'What makes a good CEO?'

成人大片 MBA graduate and Executive Director of the , Chief Executive Officer and Chief Executive Officer will tell an audience of invited business people, professional organisations and government representatives what helped them gain the top job.

The 成人大片 Business School offers a complete range of programs from undergraduate business degrees, postgraduate specialist degrees and a highly regarded MBA (given a 5 star ranking by the Good Universities Guide) through to research degrees.

Profile of Professor Dogan Tirtiroglu
Professor Dogan Tirtiroglu is the newly created Professor of Banking within the 成人大片 Business School. He comes from Concordia University in Canada and has held previous positions in universities such as Cambridge and Connecticut.

Professor Tirtiroglu has a rich research background in banking, property and corporate finance research and was recently appointed as a fellow of the prestigious Homer Hoyt Advanced Studies Institute in Florida. He will be helping further develop the banking courses and research in finance within the Business School.

Profile of Professor Allan Hodgson
Professor Allan Hodgson has been appointed as the Chair of Financial Accounting at the 成人大片 Business School. He joins the School from the University of Amsterdam, where he was the Head of the Accounting Department and Vice-Dean and Director of the Business School for the past four years.

Professor Hodgson has also held several visiting academic positions in the United Kingdom and in the United States. Professor Hodgson has research interests in the areas of international accounting standards, insider trading, corporate governance and the valuation of intangibles.

At the 成人大片 he will focus on strengthening the School's liaison with industry and improving its research profile and international linkages. Professor Hodgson will commence his appointment in July 2009.
