The 成人大片's Professor Tanya Monro is leading research into the development of new classes of optical fibres with exciting new applications for defence and other industries.

As part of the University's Research Tuesdays seminar series, Professor Monro tonight (Tuesday 11 September) will discuss the opportunities for Australia in emerging optical fibre-based technologies.

Professor Monro is Professor of Photonics and Director of the with the . The Centre is a joint venture between the (DSTO) and the 成人大片, with support from the State Government.

Current research within the Centre focuses on the design, fabrication and development of applications of new classes of soft glass microstructured optical fibres.

Professor Monro and her team are working with closely with DSTO and industry to develop optical fibres of particular relevance for defence applications.

The Research Tuesdays public seminar series - held on the second Tuesday of every month - is a new initiative of the 成人大片, giving leading researchers an opportunity to engage with business and community leaders and the general public on issues that impact on them.
