Geotechnical Engineering
Geotechnical engineers design foundations, dams, embankments, retaining walls, tunnels and roads, and undertake work relating to landslides, earthquakes and contaminated land remediation.
In our Geotechnical Engineering major you'll explore the earth鈥檚 composition and nature, and its behaviour under pressure and when water flows through it.
As a geotechnical engineer you could find yourself working outdoors, in laboratories or in office-based roles, within local councils, state and federal government, construction companies and engineering consulting firms. Your responsibilities could include: undertaking sampling, recording observations, interpreting data, preparing reports, providing foundation design and construction advice.
