Reflections: Connecting to Country through Art

26 October – 27 November 2020

This exhibition highlights pieces from the ³ÉÈË´óƬ’s stellar Indigenous art collection.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people should be aware that this exhibition contains the names of people who have passed away.

In a collaboration between the University Library and Wirltu Yarlu Aboriginal Education, the artworks on display have been selected by our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff and students. Artworks chosen resonate with each person’s life experiences, culture, and worldview.

Through this exhibition we invite everyone to participate in (8-15 November 2020) an annual event celebrating the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year’s theme, Always Was, Always Will Be, recognises that First Nations people have lived and cared for this land for over 65,000 years and encourages all Australians to embrace and acknowledge the true history of this country.ÌýThis exhibition forms part of the University’s NAIDOC Week 2020 celebrations.

We invite you to read stories from and hear voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff and students.
