International Energy Intelligence Roundtable
On Monday the 5th of February, the ISER team co-hosted at The ³ÉÈË´óƬ, the ‘International Energy Intelligence Roundtable’ with His Excellency Mr Gabriel Safta, Ambassador of Romania to Australia, and Dr. Mireille Rădoi, Professor at the University of Economic Studies in Bucharest.
H.E. Mr Safta indicated that a collaboration between the Universities within Australia and Romania would be advantageous, identifying South Australia as being one of the states aligned to working together with Europe. The event was an opportunity to discuss high-level ideas around a potential memorandum of understanding, due to the mutual interest around energy systems, energy (business) intelligence, hydrogen and other future energy sources; as well as food security.
At the roundtable, our university researchers discussed collaborative opportunities for Romanian and South Australian stakeholders with expertise in energy systems and energy intelligence. Roundtable members expressed interest in future energy sources and associated waste management, cross collaboration around H2 production from solar, the civilian-to-defence nexus along with the relationship to environmental and legal aspects.
Representatives from industry and government sectors joined the group at the end of the roundtable session for a networking reception, where theyÌýlistened to the presentation by Dr. Rădoi about the Romanian energy system and the EnergIntell Conference 2024.
Dr Rădoi discussed the importance of exploring energy intelligence with a special focus on the social dimension, and its impact on human security.
This successful forum has sparked interest in developing research initiatives to address the techno-socio-economic aspects of energy planning and strategy, and the use of data related to energy for the benefit of consumers and society. ISER will be further strengthening this cross-collaboration aiming at creating energy alliances for current and future energy systems.
