Six UofA students awarded at International Student Awards

StudyAdelaide recently announced the winners and highly commended students of their annual International Student Awards. Six ³ÉÈË´óƬ students ​received awardsÌýfor their achievements and we ​offer ourÌýcongratulations to them on their success.

The annual International Student Awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of South Australia’s international students.Ìý

Yeganeh Soltanpour (from Iran) won the categoryÌýStudent Event of the YearÌýfor her event ‘The Virtual Library’, an event much needed during the COVID-19 pandemic that provided students with support, opportunities to socialise, and a place to focus during a time when use of the physical library was limited.

Ìý

Jessica Bohorquez (from Colombia) was Highly Commended in the categoryÌýAcademic Excellence: (Research)Ìýfor her high quality journal publications and participation in the Three Minute Thesis competition.

Ìý

Hemlata Karki (from Bhutan) was Highly Commended in the categoryÌýAcademic Excellence: Postgraduate (Coursework)Ìýfor her outstanding academic results and work campaigning for gender equality.

Preeti Maharjan (from Nepal) was Highly Commended in the categoryÌýCommunity EngagementÌýfor her dedication to volunteering with those who in need, ranging from the elderly to disadvantaged children.

Hien Minh Vu (from Vietnam) was also Highly Commended in the categoryÌýCommunity EngagementÌýfor his volunteering work helping international students transition to living in Adelaide amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Oscar Ong (from Malaysia) was Highly Commended in the ​newÌýcategoryÌýSupport and AdvocacyÌýfor his dedication to providing the ³ÉÈË´óƬ’s international students with a voice and helping to get the COVID-19 Student Support Package up and running.
