Global rankings underpin Lot Fourteen鈥檚 digital ecosystem

Adelaide is recognised as a powerhouse in the new digital era with the release of the 2020 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) confirming that the 成人大片 has cemented its position as a global leader in a number of key discipline areas.
The news augurs well for the development of a world-class digital ecosystem at Lot Fourteen, and especially in relation to advances in cyber security, with the 成人大片 pursuing its vision for a leading-edge 鈥淚nformation Capability鈥 presence to be headquartered on the site.
鈥淭he 成人大片 is ranked first in the country in Electronic Engineering (42nd聽in the world) and second in Computer Science (40th聽in the world). These disciplines are the core foundations of cyber security. Added to this is our leadership in Automation and Control (24th聽in the world) and Instrument Science (51-75 band in the world) which are critical components for Information Capability and the defence against misuse of information,鈥 says the 成人大片鈥檚 Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) Professor Anton Middelberg.

鈥淭he 成人大片 plans to bring all of these world-leading capabilities together in to a globally connected hub on Lot Fourteen to give Australia the edge in building both secure and resilient information systems and capabilities and to position Lot Fourteen as a powerhouse of future-facing jobs and industries.鈥
The University鈥檚 leadership in this area is underpinned by key research institutes within the University including the Australian Institute for Machine Learning (AIML) (which is located at Lot Fourteen) and the Institute for Photonics and Advanced Sensing (IPAS), with over 180 researchers and the workforce of the future 鈥 today鈥檚 students 鈥 undertaking research in the key Information Capability disciplines.
The ARWU ranks universities across 54 academic subjects and is considered one of the most authoritative in the world.
The University has ranked highly in other subjects: Mining and Mineral Engineering 鈥 second nationally (7th聽in the world); Civil Engineering 鈥 third in Australia (25th); Mechanical Engineering occupies fifth place nationally (76-100 band) and Energy Science and Engineering 鈥 sixth (76-100). The University is ranked fourth in the country for Water Resources (31st) and fifth for Earth Sciences (51-75). Agricultural Sciences is ranked fourth (37) and Veterinary Sciences fifth (76-100). And Adelaide is first in the nation for Dentistry and Oral Sciences.
