This Environment Institute sponsored workshop, hosted by the , is an intensive 5 day hands-on training course tutored by leading international experts in the field of Next Generation Sequencing and Bioinformatics. The course will focus on interpreting complex data sets, such as genomic and metagenomic samples and review the most recent developments in the field.
This workshop is fully booked, however, as part of the program the international tutors will present evening talks on their research that will be open to the public.
The line up is as follows (note all held in the Mawson Lecture Theatre, 5-6pm):
Monday 5th November:
A high coverage Denisovan genome - what 30x coverage from a more than 50,000 old pinky bone tells us about her and our past. By Martin Kircher, Department of Genome Sciences, University of Washington
Tuesday 6th November:
The last million years of horse evolution. By Ludovic Orlando, Centre for GeoGenetics, Natural History Museum of Denmark
Wednesday 7th November:
The eukaryotic tree of life as a framework for eukaryotic community analyses. By Laura Wegener-Parfrey, Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, University of Colorado
Thursday 8th November:
Application of whole genome sequencing to identify Mendelian disease candidates in dogs using a 1-case + N-control design. By Bob Schnabel, College of Agriculture, food and Natural Resources.
All Welcome!
