Listen to Music. Make Art. Find your people. Keep Planet Alive.
Here’s the deal: we’re headed for a hot, dry summer. Drought and bushfires are forecast and as the driest state in the driest inhabited continent, we South Australians bear the brunt of these impacts. The nature and climate crises can be overwhelming, and it's hard to know what everyday people can do that will make an impact.
But fear not, beautiful human, there's some good news! Research shows that action - in all its forms - keeps despair at bay, and community connection is the antidote to our biggest woes. Â
On Saturday Feb 10th come and hear from South Australian's most glorious and earth-passionate bands, including:
- Naomi Keyte
- Bromham
- Druid Fluids
- Tell Mama
- Gallery one
On a balmy - hopefully not scorching - summer's evening overlooking the Torrens River, attendees will have the opportunity to listen to incredible music, hear from some of the leading SA youth campaigners and advocates, and explore stalls from the myriad of environmental groups in SA – everything from Breathe Easy Reveg – a grassroots initiative that organizes the most blissful community planting days – to the SA Youth Climate Alliance, a collective of young people across South Australia united for the climate.
We think it's really important that the voices of young people (and youth adjacent!) are heard - especially when it comes to big decisions that affect the whole state, country - nay, the whole world.Â
Patrons will have an opportunity to share their concerns about the state of our environment through a climate-inspired art installation and these will be signed, sealed and delivered to the politicians who hold the power.Â
Plus, it'll be a chance to connect with the growing community of babes at SAGE (South Australian Grassroots Ecosystem), a monthly gathering for all of the passionate people, groups and communities working towards any project, goal or mission to help protect, restore and regenerate the world around us.
In the words of big earth babe Maya Angelou, "We need joy as we need air. We need love as we need water. We need each other as we need the earth we share."
Interactive Art Installation: The Bait Fridge.Â
Stalls from: SAGE, Breathe Easy Reveg, SEED Mob, SA Youth Alliance, Climate Justice Network, the Adelaide Sustainability Centre, the Port Environment Centre, BioR Aus, SA Urban Food Network, Australian Conservation Foundation (Community Group), Landcare and more.Â
Food:
- Sozas Sri Lankan Street Food
- Nagev Plant Based Kitchen
- UniBar Pizzas etc!
This event has been brought together by the Nature Conservation Society of SA and the Conservation Council of SA, and kindly supported by Human.Kind Studios and the ³ÉÈË´óƬ Environment Institute.
