• Biography/ Background

  Lucy Stone is a Study Overseas Administrator in the Division of Academic and Student Engagement. In this role, Lucy facilitates student and academic travel on study tours and short-term exchange programs. 

  Before joining the Division in 2022, Lucy studied overseas extensively. She is recipient of numerous research grants, awards and accolades for projects on subjects ranging from medical humanities to children's literature, war and forced migration. Most recently, Lucy was awarded a Research Excellence Academy studentship from Newcastle University, UK, for a PhD on the Nazi-era juvenilia by children's author-illustrators, Judith Kerr and Tomi Ungerer, held in archives in the UK, France and Germany. 

  Lucy has taught undergraduate German language courses and delivered workshops on academic writing, blog editing and marketing to postgraduates and academics. She has also contributed to international publications, conferences and public events, as well as social justice and community engagement initiatives in academia and industry. 

  In addition to a PhD, Lucy holds an MPhil in Children's Literature from the University of Cambridge and a BA (Languages) (Honours) from the University of Sydney. She is fluent in German and Italian, can read French and is a beginner in Indonesian.
