PHYSIOTH 3004 - Paediatric, Pelvic & Women's Health Physiotherapy

In this course, students will extend their knowledge and skills relating to physiotherapy assessment and management in the practice areas of paediatrics and women's, men?s and pelvic health.. The paediatrics module will cover the theoretical background for assessing and managing children with posture and movement disorders and common paediatric conditions in paediatric settings. The women's, men?s and pelvic health module will introduce the aetiology, pathology, clinical features and complications, pertaining to conditions specific to women and men that are amenable to physiotherapy care and introduce their assessment and management. These conditions include surgery, incontinence and pelvic floor muscle disorders, musculoskeletal conditions, pregnancy and childbirth. This course is a blended course with online lectures and learning content and face-to-face workshops and practicals.

    4 Perform case-specific analyses and interpretation of assessment findings relevant to paediatric, women's and pelvic health physiotherapy.
    5 Design appropriate client centred interprofessional and evidence-based management plans relevant to paediatric, women's and pelvic health physiotherapy.
    6 Safely and effectively perform a selection of physiotherapy interventions commonly used in paediatric, women's and pelvic health physiotherapy.

    Learning & Teaching Modes
    The course is designed with blended learning opportunities, allowing students to learn and apply their knowledge in a variety of platforms and settings, encouraging engagement both on and off campus. Students will be required to complete online activities available on My Uni prior to their weekly workshop and weekly practical. Workshops and practicals will provide students with content that they will be able to practice and apply. Content will be delivered in an integrated manner, as topics overlap and are closely linked.
