Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of PETROENG 7067 - Advanced Geomechanics, students will learn about:
1- Rock mechanics (forces, stress and strain and Mohr's circle of stress)
2- Geomechanics (understanding the difference between Rock and Geo-Mechanics);
3- Fault mechanics (fault/fracture meshes, and the Andersonian classification of faults);
4- 2D, 3D and 4D stress quantification and Basic Structural Geology;
5- Pore Pressure Prediction;

Learning & Teaching Activities
Learning & Teaching Modes
This course will be taught in intensive format, with modules scheduled during Semester 1. During the dates of this course, students are expected to attend class each week day, between 9am and 5pm. Activities will include lectures, practicals, research, individual and group work. Coursework activities to be completed outside of class time are a part of the expected student workload within this course.Workload

Submission
Late submission policy:Work will be marked without prejudice, and 10% of the obtained mark will be deducted for each 24 hour period (or part of) that an assessment task is late, up to a maximum penalty of 50% of the mark attained. An examiner may elect not to accept any assessment task that a student wants to submit after that task has been marked and feedback provided to the rest of the class.Course Grading
