Course Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this course students will be able to:
1 Understand the history and current practice in minimally invasive surgery in colorectal surgery. 2 Be familiar with the pathophysiology of abdominal wall hernia and techniques of repair based on these principles. 3 Understand the pathophysiology of obesity and the different minimally invasive bariatric surgical techniques. 4 Understand the incidence and causes of thromboembolic events in minimally invasive surgery. 5 Be able to review the available technology and indications with regards to neural stimulation. 6 Understand the minimally invasive techniques used in vascular surgery. 7 Become familiar with the minimally invasive gynaecological surgical procedures particularly those used for clearance of endometriosis. 8 Understand the marked differences in anatomy, physiology and surgical technique. 9 Understand the different modalities and techniques with regards to destruction of tumours without surgical access.
