    Course Learning Outcomes
    At the successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
    1 Demonstrate detailed knowledge and understanding of the content area relating to the research topic.
    2 Demonstrate a sound understanding of the different aspects of writing a research dissertation, including how to conduct a literature review, how to shape a research methodology appropriate to the research topic
    3 Engage in detail with the range of literature on the chosen topic of research
    4 Demonstrate understanding of undertaking small-scale research in one chosen area of applied linguistics
    5 Engage with data collection, data collation, data analysis and data interpretation as part of the research process
    6 Successfully plan and implement a research timeline across one semester of full time study, respecting key dates
    7 Understand the processes involved in ethical research, including university processes for achieving ethical clearance
    8 Produce an 18,000-word dissertation which accurately reflects the research project undertaken
