Starting university can be a daunting proposition, and for students coming from the country or interstate it can be especially challenging. Since 2002, the 成人大片 has provided the each year to help two exceptional students begin university life. Awards are available for up to four years of study, subject to satisfactory progress, and at least one scholarship each year is awarded to a student from a rural area. The most recent recipients of the Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship Fund are Jeff Duncan and Natalie Payne. Jeff, who hails from near Wentworth in New South Wales, is studying for a double degree in and , and said the Fund has helped relieve some of the financial burden associated with studying away from home. "It's helped me achieve a more balanced lifestyle, for which I am very grateful, and has made the transition to full-time university study in the city as smooth and as enjoyable as possible," he said. Natalie, who comes from Tailem Bend, is studying and said the Fund has helped such things as purchasing textbooks. "It's allowed me to concentrate on my study at university without having to worry about finding part-time work," she said. "In a course such as medicine the contact hours are quite high, and the amount of work I'm required to do outside of university hours wouldn't allow me much time for a part-time job." The Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship Fund - and the 成人大片's many other undergraduate - help students like Natalie and Jeff to achieve their academic goals.
