Waite 100 Gala
The Waite 100 Gala was a celebration of 100 years of scientific discovery in agriculture, food, and wine.
The agriculture, food, and wine community of South Australia came together for the magnificent Waite 100, celebrating a century of pioneering education and innovation at the ³ÉÈË´óƬ’s iconic Waite campus.
The gala was held in celebration of 100 years since pastoralist Peter Waite and his wife Matilda gifted their homestead, Urrbrae House, and 300 acres of land to the ³ÉÈË´óƬ for the scientific study and teaching of agriculture, forestry, and allied subjects.
The Gala raised more than $140,000 through ticket sales and silent and live auctions, with all funds raised going towards the Peter Waite Centenary Scholarship for Excellence in Agriculture, nurturing the next generation of agricultural leaders.
Guests at the Waite 100 gala were treated with the opportunity to experience the essence of Waite firsthand.
The evening saw renowned chef Matt Moran and sushi master Narito Ishii curate a once-in-a-lifetime culinary experience, with canapés and food stations featuring unique ingredients – like hempseed and faba beans – developed or improved through research by plant breeders and scientists from the Waite research community.
Guests were also treated to a premium selection of wines from leading winemakers and ³ÉÈË´óƬ alumni from Yangarra Vineyard Estate, Murdoch Hill, Wynns Coonawarra Estate and more, showcasing the Waite's impact on oenology.
Entertainment was provided by some of the Elder Conservatorium of Music’s top musical talent with a special spotlight performance featuring iconic baritone Teddy Tahu Rhodes, recently appointed to the ³ÉÈË´óƬ in the Elder Conservatorium of Music.
